Senate race was difficult to find on absentee ballot
I voted via absentee ballot. I had to search to find the section to vote for Senator. Is there something in the Broward County charter that requires us to screw up elections for the entire country? This is not rocket science. It is possible to create easy to read ballots and count them. This is shameful. I’ve never run for political office in my life but I may use my MBA and run for Supervisor of Elections or at least campaign for a competent person.
Letter showed writer’s racism and prejudice
You printed a letter (Nov. 8) by a reader who is so blatantly prejudiced and so ignorant that he clearly did not even comprehend the hateful message he was sending.
This writer actually said “we had a BLACK president and that was a disaster. We don’t need to experiment with a BLACK crooked and lying governor.”
I hope other readers respond to this pathetic, mentally challenged coward who can only think of people in terms of the color of their skin or the faith that they follow, rather than the quality of their thoughts and actions. This is exactly the type of rhetoric that is at least partly responsible for the murders of so many innocent people. With citizens like this inhabiting our great country I am not sure that my rental in Toronto will not turn into our permanent residence.
Time to wake up America. will eventually create an Apocalypse if we let people like this permeate the mainstream of our society.
An election victory does not equate to divisiveness
The letter writer claiming that Florida voted for Fear, Hatred, Ignorance and Divisiveness has obviously been blinded by not being able to cope with his team losing at the ballot box.
He is the one who is actually perpetuating Fear, Hatred, Ignorance and Divisiveness with his inability to accept the will of the Florida voters.
In every election someone wins, and someone loses, it is not complicated. It has been this way since the very first vote was ever cast, and will continue this way until, when, and if voting is abolished.
We as a nation cannot continue to exist with irresponsible thinking such as displayed by, simply put. a sore loser. One more time, get over it and move on.
Historical perspective shows Trump is not a Nazi
"He is a Nazi." are the words a letter writer used to describe our president in a letter to the editor Nov. 7. Additionally, the writer claimed (having been born in 1925 in England) to be well aware of the growth of Nazis in Europe asserting that “exactly the same” atmosphere is now happening in the USA. That is simply not true.
Aside from being so disrespectful to our president, I urge the writer to brush up on the economic conditions of Europe, Germany and the effects of the Great Depression that created such economic and political turmoil in Germany and the world during the 1920s and ‘30s. Add to this Germany‘s inability to pay the bill for World War I war reparations and it is easy to see that the same atmosphere DOES NOT exist now.
Such fear mongering and demagoguery have no place in a civil society. President Trump has his faults but he is not a Nazi.
