After permitting issues delayed its debut for more than a year, Brewing Company will finally open in beer-saturated .

The crew behind Gulf Stream are Pacific Northwest natives Ty Eriks and McKay Ferrell, who planned to open a brewery in Vancouver until they discovered South Florida’s smaller, craft beer-thirsty market. In June, Eriks and Ferrell hired brewmaster Mike Demetrus, formerly of M.I.A. Beer Company in Doral, who has won 30 beer-industry medals for his lager and ale recipes.
Gulf Stream adds one more bar to Fort Lauderdale’s growing nightlife scene north of downtown, seeing a renaissance of late with new bars and breweries and the Northeast Thirteenth Street drag.

Which beers are on tap?
There will be 20 mostly low alcohol-by-volume beers on tap, including flagships such as Mo Betta, a pilsner; What the Hef?, a Bavarian-style hefeweizen; Sub-Hop, a pale ale; and Marley IPA, an India Pale Ale. Other limited-run brews include Botonka Tonk, an ale aged with tonka beans and oak chips; Vlad the Impaler, an aged Russian imperial stout; RoBoPo, a robust porter; and Oatalicious, a hazy India Pale Ale.

Khoffner Brewery is a half-mile drive to the southwest, while four more breweries — LauderAle, Invasive Species, Tarpon River and Flagler Village Brewery — can be found in Flagler Village, downtown and near the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

On Sept. 22, Gulf Stream will offer two food trucks and serve small-batch beers inside its industrial-chic taproom, decorated with Edison bulbs and brick walls.
