Several residents of the Trayann Apartments awoke to the sound of sirens and the smell of smoke early Saturday, according to police.

Fire rescue crews got the call about 4:13 a.m. and encountered smoke and flames in one of the apartments at 7777 Pines Boulevard, officials said.

There was no one inside the burning apartment at the time and no injuries were reported, police said, but part of Pines Boulevard was closed to traffic.

The flames were brought under control within minutes in the 44-unit, two-story building, built in 1973.

There was some flooding in the parking lot as a result of the firefighting efforts and recent stormy weather.
