A 33-year-old man died from a gunshot late Saturday afternoon in an incident that wounded three others, one seriously, police officials said.

Dwayne Marvin Smith was lying on the south side of the 5300 block of Northwest 24th Court in Lauderhill and bystanders were attempting cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him when police arrived shortly after 5 p.m. He was pronounced dead at Broward Health Medical Center, said Lt. Michael Santiago, police spokesman.

A woman lying on the north side of the road was also found shortly after Smith was discovered, about a block away, Santiago said. She was in serious condition at the medical center Saturday night.

As police worked the scene, a woman approached them saying a bullet struck her car and her upper chest was bleeding with a shrapnel in her upper chest, Santiago said. Paramedics on the scene treated and released her.

Later, Saturday night, a man walked into University Hospital in Tamarac with a gunshot wound, connected to the shooting. He was hospitalized in good condition Saturday night.

Santiago said late Saturday the scene was still active and closed to traffic as police questioned witnesses. So far, not much information is available about what led to the shooting.

“People heard arguing and then the gunshots rang out,” Santiago said.

Saturday’s incident was the second time in less than 24 hours that Lauderhill police were on the scene of a shooting with multiple victims.

North of Saturday’s incident, a man and a woman were taken from near the intersection of Northwest 52nd Avenue and 26th Street to Broward Health Medical Center with , Santiago said. Their condition was not known, but they were expected to survive.

That shooting also followed an argument, Santiago said.
