A Muslim in a Muslim-majority country is calling for a “psycho-social investigation” to find out why so many members of his faith want to live in the West, reports
Muhammad Aal Al-Sheikh, writing for the Saudi daily Al-Jazirah, criticized Arab and African Muslim immigrants who choose to live in the West yet express hatred and contempt towards the West and regard it as infidel.
“These conflicting sentiments – of hatred (for the West), but (a desire) to risk one’s most precious possession, one’s life, in order to live among these hated societies and enjoy the comfort, security, stability and prosperity (they offer) – require a psycho-social investigation,” he wrote.
The commentary was
“Some people justify (this attitude), saying that (those in the West) are racist xenophobes and are enemies of Islam and the Muslims,” he wrote. “… For the sake of reason and honesty, put yourself in their place. Would any Arab country open its doors wide to Christian foreigners and allow them to work in it? The answer is definitely not.
“So why do you demand that others treat (you) differently than you treat them?”
