A teenager is facing two charges of attempted murder after he opened fire on employees when denied late-night fast food at a Checkers restaurant in Pembroke Park, the .
Albert Humberto Ponce, 17, of Hialeah Gardens, was arrested Thursday on a warrant and was charged as an adult by the Broward State Attorney’s Office, court records show.
The shooting happened about 4 a.m. July 26 when Ponce and a woman drove up to the Checkers in the 4000 block of Hallandale Beach Boulevard to order food, according to the arrest report.
Two employees who were outside told Ponce they had just closed the restaurant and that’s when , hitting one of the men in the leg, investigators said.
The wounded employee was treated and released from the hospital. The other man was unharmed, detectives said.
Ponce and the woman sped away in a white Kia SUV. She was a passenger in the SUV and is not facing any charges at this time, investigators said.
Besides the two counts of second-degree attempted murder, Ponce is also charged with firing a gun from a vehicle and being a delinquent with a firearm. He is being held in the Broward County Jail without bond, .
